A historic structure reborn in the Samarian hills.
Where preservation meets resilience,
and ancient stone becomes the heart of modern Israeli defense.
HATMAR SHOMRON is a project of identity, memory,
and the enduring strength of a nation shaped by heritage and responsibility.
In the heart of the Samaria region,
within the walls of an ancient mosque layered with centuries of history,
a rare architectural journey unfolds
one that bridges preservation, transformation, and national purpose.
The project reimagines this historic structure
as the Emergency Command and Control Headquarters
of the Samaria Regional Brigade
the strategic core from which life-saving decisions are made in times of war.
Meticulous conservation of the original stone walls and arches
honors the spirit of the place,
while a new interior language introduces advanced command technologies,
secure communication systems, and modern defense infrastructures.
Inside, the past and the present coexist:
heritage shapes the atmosphere; innovation drives the function.
Around the structure, the environment softens
a pastoral landscape designed for renewal and reflection.
Shaded paths, native plantings, and quiet gathering areas
offer a sense of calm to the soldiers who live and serve within the compound.
A memorial and briefing hall will stand as a sacred space,
honoring the brigade’s fallen through light, image, and architectural clarity.
HATMAR SHOMRON is a testament to continuity
a project where architecture becomes a beacon of identity,
resilience, and the unbroken strength of the Israeli spirit.

the process
Heritage defined the foundation.
The ancient mosque was documented stone by stone,
with preservation methods crafted to protect every arch and wall,
ensuring that the original character remained untouched in its dignity.
Modern defense needs shaped the interior.
Cutting-edge command rooms, communication hubs,
and secure operating spaces were integrated discreetly,
creating a technological core concealed within historic fabric.
A new spatial language emerged.
Lighting, materials, and circulation were designed
to honor the quiet gravity of the past
while supporting rapid response, clarity, and operational precision.
The exterior became a place of renewal.
Shaded walkways, native greenery, and open courtyards
form a calming counterpoint to the intensity within,
culminating in a memorial space
that carries the stories of the fallen with light, silence, and remembrance.
